Museums

Museums are centres of fun and learning for the whole family! Take part in Canada's cultural heritage, learn and share knowledge and transmit a legacy to your children.

There is something for everyone in the family: chose from non-profit museums, art galleries, science centres, aquaria, archives, sports halls-of-fame, artist-run centres and historic sites.

59 million people visit Canada's museums each year and 60% of international tourists head to our museums during their stay. Museums enjoy 7.5 million visits by school children annually; they engage 55,000 volunteers and are supported by 300,000 friends across the nation!

Canadian Museums Association

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is the national organization for the advancement of the Canadian museum sector. Established in 1947, CMA represents museums and its workers across the country through professional development programs and conferences; participation in national research projects; promotion of Canadian museums at the international level; and many other programs and services.

CMA also offers a number of bursaries for students, professionals and their institutions and each year presents awards to celebrate and encourage excellence within the museum sector.
